Our Story
It's no secret that children and young people in the United States are not doing as well as we hope or want. Millions of children are unable to reach their full potential, and public investments in programs that aim to improve their lives are often overlooked or underfunded.
We believe in the power of philanthropy to support the countless organizations that work tirelessly every day to fill these gaps and improve the lives of children. We also believe that by choosing to direct the majority of your giving to children’s causes, taking a public pledge to do so, and sharing your personal story, we can drive social change and improve kids’ lives.
Launched in 2021, by Leading for Kids president and founder David Alexander, MD, Giving for Kids is an online community comprised of individuals who have taken the Giving for Kids Pledge – a public commitment to direct the majority of their giving with the intention of improving children’s lives.
Who can take the Giving for Kids pledge? Anyone! Giving for Kids is open to the general public - there are no minimum giving or net worth requirements. Our goal is to broaden the base of donors who think about kids when they give, and publicly champion kids causes and policies that support them. Together, we are mobilizing a nation of donors whose gifts will improve the lives of kids now and in future generations.
Giving for Kids is not a fundraising organization, and does not solicit, endorse, or distribute contributions. Instead, we celebrate individuals who have taken the Giving for Kids Pledge. Pledgers are invited to:
- Join a private online community of like-minded people with whom they can share ideas.
- Be introduced to new issues and organizations, and participate in online events to hear from experts on the health and well-being of children and youth.
The Giving for Kids online platform is ad-free and we do not collect, save, or sell your personal information.
